The Nang Tun Medical Fund
On the evening of March 7th, 2020, we received the message that Nang Tun had fallen ill and been rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, all efforts by the doctors and our part were in vain. She died early the next morning.
Nang Tun had been a student at Somwang ever since the school opened its doors. Over 7 years we watched her grow up and become the wonderful person she was: a smart, joyful and incredibly helpful girl, who was just bursting with life. She was supposed to finish her last week at Somwang, before moving on to study at the Thai public school with her big brother and fellow classmates. She was so incredibly proud of what she had achieved and couldn’t wait to wear her uniform, which her parents brought to her in the hospital just before she died. Her future was bright and in a way, her life was only just about to begin. It was with incredibly heavy hearts that we said goodbye forever to this radiant bundle of light and joy.
To honor her, we set up a medical fund in her name. This fund serves as an emergency fund that can be accessed in case any of our students would become sick or need emergency medical care.

It goes without saying that she will be dearly missed by all the students and teachers at Somwang, her younger and older brothers, her parents, as well as all of us here and anyone who ever had the privilege of crossing paths with her. We will keep carrying her smile with us in our thoughts and hearts.
